DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION AND SEO OPTIMIZATION: THE NEW FACE OF THE PCAN PROGRAM
If you’re an entrepreneur or marketing professional, you’re no stranger to the Canadian Digital Adoption Program (CDAP). This $2,400 grant from the Canadian government is designed to help local businesses go digital, whether by adding e-commerce functionality to an existing website or creating a transactional site from scratch.
Since its inception, the PCAN program has evolved on several fronts: from the application process to eligibility criteria.
Initially, the program authorized funding for search engine optimization (SEO) activities, but only as a complement to a broader digital project. This rule posed a problem for companies that already had a solid online presence.
The good news is that this restriction was lifted in October! You can now devote your entire $2,400 grant to SEO initiatives.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY
To submit your application, here are the prerequisites:
- Your business should be B2C – selling directly to consumers, not exclusively to other companies.
- You must have tax numbers (GST and QST).
- Your sales must exceed $30,000, or you must employ at least one person (other than yourself).
- You must have a Quebec Enterprise Number (NEQ).
HOW TO APPLY
The procedure is simple:
- Go to the PCAN website and follow the instructions.
- Once you have submitted your request, a digital advisor will contact you by e-mail.
- An appointment link will be sent to you in this e-mail.
- This appointment will serve either as an introduction to the program or to finalize your request. The advisor will guide you through each step.
